NYE Brisbane Australia 2011 to 2012
About NYE
In Australia we are one of the first countries in the world to celebrate the beginning of the new year. New Year's Eve (NYE) is 31 December each year. The next day (1 January) is a public holiday in Queensland*, making it a great excuse to not only welcome in the new year in style but to party like you don't have to get up tomorrow!
On this page you will find suggestions of times and places to go to watch the fireworks, family friendly options where kids are welcome, hip and trendy parties and balls aimed at adults as well as some good places to eat out on NYE.
Brisbane has a good selection of:
This page is updated as soon as I get new information, unfortunately, many venues don't publish their plans and menus until mid-November each year. If you find the previous year's information, use it as a guide to the sorts of things you will be able to find and do. It's a good idea to bookmark this page and come back for the updates.
Booking in early for events, dinners, cruises and parties is highly recommended. Also note that some hotels offer special events for house guests only, therefore you will need to check this when you book.
If you find yourself on the Gold Coast for New Year our sister site has lots of information about that.
About New Years Holidays for 2012
* Sometimes if 1 January falls on a weekend there are holidays in lieu or additional holidays. This changes each year. Check out the official holidays for Queensland. In 2012 since 1 January 2012 is a Sunday you will find that Sunday is a holiday for New Years Day and Monday 2 January 2012 is a also designated a public holiday in Queensland.
Please Note - All prices quoted are approximate and may change. Please check with each venue before booking. Many venues require full payment on booking to secure your place. Check the specific terms and conditions when you book. Disclaimer: I don't get paid to do this research, so if I have made a mistake or two, please forgive me and let me know so I can fix it up for the next person.
Enjoy the partying to welcome in a brand new year!
